About
Why I Do This
Jobs don’t fall apart because people can’t read drawings—they fall apart because leaders don’t read the room. We split the very folks who need to sync every day—PMs here, field there, safety somewhere else—and by lunch, we’ve got three plans and a pile of rework.
I started with a tool bag on my hip and learned to follow before I tried to lead. I’ve made mistakes, taken my lumps, and know what actually moves a project: respect, clear expectations, and the daily habits that keep people sharp and safe. A loss in our industry—a superintendent who died of a heart attack right after retiring—sealed it for me. Our people are not replaceable. The work matters, but the people matter more.
What I Do Now
Through HGN3 Partners, I teach field-tested leadership that shows up on Monday morning:
- 10-minute huddles that align real work, not just calendars
- Feedback that builds people up and raises the bar
- Mentorship that turns “potential” into “trusted”
- No buzzwords. No flavor-of-the-month. Practical moves crews can use the same day.
How I Work
- Listen first, then cut the noise.
- Keep it human and measurable.
- Trade blame for ownership.
- Leave people better than you found them.
- If you want leaders who can hit the schedule and lift their teams, we’ll get along fine.
My Principles, My Work
- Teach the why, not just the what.
- Respect people before processes.
- Build leaders by first learning to follow.
- Turn small beginnings into lasting impact.
- Character counts more than titles.
- Mentorship multiplies success.
- Don’t play the victim—choose to achieve.
- Love the work, or it will drain you.
- Earn influence by being an asset.
- Culture is built daily in how we speak, listen, and show up.
